Silence
Due to the 3.11 incident, there exists a region in the vicinity of the Fukushima 1 Nuclear Power Plant where people have disappeared, leaving behind the traces of their existences. Silence reigns over the area. And while there is a sea of dead leaves inside the house, the outside has turned into a sanctuary that conveys a lustrous sense of life. Like a ghost, the feeling of human absence and the tension caused by radioactivity appear and disappear within the viewer’s mind.
In this project, Maruyama collaborated with Maruyama Tokio and Antti Ylönen (Finland).
