Veins Beneath #2511-KR

The Earth’s surface is constantly reshaped by crustal shifts, weather, and human events such as war and prosperity. Yet beneath this changing skin, groundwater flows in layered, varying depths.

Imagine tendril-like extensions reaching down toward these veins from places around the world, seeking the waters best suited to each land and shaping its character. There, plants and animals thrive, local vegetables and sake are born, and people take in the water and food of their land, nurturing a unique local spirit and culture.

When we feel a deep affinity with someone— even someone far away—perhaps we are sharing the same vein of water.

Held concurrently with the exhibition at Gallery Kaneda.
The venue was a Japanese-style room where seasonal rituals are carefully observed. The contemporary artworks were installed so as to accompany, rather than disturb, the room’s atmosphere. During the exhibition, the night of the Harvest Moon arrived, and the moon-themed works quietly responded to it.
