Veins Beneath
The surface of the Earth is in constant flux, reshaped as much by tectonic shifts and weather patterns as by human conflict and prosperity. But if we turn our gaze downward―beneath this ever-changing terrain―we find groundwater flowing through shifting layers of underground veins.
Imagine this―roots, like probing feelers, descending from every region of the planet, seeking the veins of water best suited to each place, nourishing and shaping the distinct character of the land above. Might not the spiritual cultures that emerged in far-flung places begin to resonate, drawn together by these shared underground currents?
Just as local vegetables or sake carry the flavor of their soil, water, and climate, so too are people formed by the food, spirituality, and lived experience of the places they call home. And we, in turn, are drawn to those with whom we resonate.
Even if the surface is laid to waste by intolerance, I want to believe that the spirit seeking connection will endure―flowing still in the veins beneath.
